Confirm the plant’s identity using several characteristics, including flowers, stem, leaves, and growth habit.
Don’t eat an unidentified wild plant.
Don’t use a plant medicinally simply because it is described online as a traditional remedy.
If you have pets or children, check whether the confirmed species is toxic to them.

If the plant is positively identified as an edible species , you can prepare its tender greens simply.
Garlic & Lemon Garden Greens
Ingredients
2 cups confirmed edible young leaves
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 garlic clove, minced
½ small onion, finely chopped
Salt and black pepper
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
Instructions
Wash the edible leaves thoroughly.
Follow the species-specific preparation instructions. Some wild greens must be blanched before eating.
